Burgas
Burgas is one of the largest cities in Bulgaria. It is home to more than 200 thousand people (from 7-million Bulgaria).
The city is very green, along the sea stretches a beautiful marine Park, with a lot of really cozy alleys, interesting monuments to outstanding personalities. And the rest of the city is literally buried in greenery. There are preserved old streets with picturesque two-storey houses. The modern part is also, basically, 5-6 storey houses on green streets.
You can get to Dor Burgas by bus from Sunny beach. The bus takes about 40 minutes, the fare is 6 levs.
A bus arrives at the bus station, located next to the railway.
From the station square departs the Central street of Burgas, which runs through the city center to the monument to Alyosha ("Alyosha" - the collective name of the Soviet liberators).
On the main street there are many shops and many restaurants. You can distinguish a good restaurant from a snack bar by the difference in the cost of main courses and beer. In a good restaurant, beer is quite expensive, but the main dishes – quite cheap: it is made to scare off casual visitors who come only for what would miss a glass or two.
Cook in Burgas is good And if you want to eat in a big company – it would be cheaper to go back to Burgas for lunch.
For shopping you can take a ride in the major shopping centers, but in order to just buy something for memory-enough shops on the main street.
To the left of the main street (if you go from the station) will be a modern part of the city, to the right – a large marine Park, behind which stretches a long public beach.
When the sea small drizzle of rain or cool weather, or you just burned by the sun - is to come to Burgas to spend here half a day, maybe all day.
Landmarks
The historical Museum is located at the address: Alexander Lermontov street, 31, opposite the Ministry of internal Affairs of the district. The Museum was founded in 1925 and has an exhibition related to the new and modern history of Burgas, a collection of ancient coins and a gallery of paintings with works from southern Bulgaria and Northern Turkey.
Ethnographic Museum of Bourgas is situated in the former house of the merchant Dimitra Brakalova. The house of the Renaissance, preserved in its original form, was built in 1873 and is located near the Cathedral " St. St. Cyril and Methodius." Here is a collection of Bulgarian costumes and jewelry typical of the population of Burgas. Most of the exposition is typical for the Motherland of many Greek and Turkish refugees.
The archaeological Museum presents exhibits related to urban, regional and marine themes from ancient times until the fall of the region under the Ottoman Empire. Here are the results of archaeological excavations that have been carried out in recent years in the region. The Central exhibition hall of the Museum is located on Alexandra Bogoridi street in the pedestrian zone.
The diversity of flora and fauna of Burgas and the region are collected in the Museum of natural history, at three permanent exhibitions "magic world of stone", "flora and fauna of Strandzha mountain", "Birds in wetlands of Burgas".
The house-Museum of poet Petya Dubarova was established in 1995 and is the organizer of the annual National literature contest Petya Dubarova.
Sea garden and other parks
The city has many parks and green areas. Sea garden is a light city and a monument of national importance. One of the largest parks in the city was created according to the first plan of development of Burgas in 1891.
The sea garden stretches along the beach of the town, about 5 km long, and covers an area of about 600 acres. A significant contribution to the development of the Park in the center of Burgas did George Duhtev, appointed in 1910 the Manager of Sea garden and the future head of the Borisov's garden in Sofia.
The garden is planted with ornamental trees and shrubs, including sculptures and busts of famous Bulgarian and foreign freedom fighters, writers, actors. The garden offers a wide view of Burgas Bay, as well as Pomorie in the Northern part of the Bay and Sozopol and Northern skirts of Strandzha mountain in the southern part of the Bay.
In the Sea garden there is a Sea Casino, a summer theatre 2000-th year with a retractable roof and Summer stage "the Snail". In summer, there are international folklore festival, jazz festival, Opera and theater performances, pop and rock performances.
Next to the exhibition centre is the monument "Pantheon" of dead soldiers. It was opened in 1981, its author is the sculptor Valentin Starchev, architect Vladimir Milkov. The Park has preserved the house of George Duhtev, which today is a cultural monument.
In the Central part of the city is Borisov garden, also called the Garden of Prince Boris. It is located in today's district "Vazrajdane" and is limited to the streets, "William Gladstone", "Alexander Stamboliiski", "Knyaz Boris I" and "Tsar Kaloyan". The Park is named after Prince Boris I and has a rectangular shape, and the alleys are built in the form of an anchor. In the Northern part of the Park there is a youth House, and in the South - a tennis court and a football field. Near the Park is the house-Museum of poet Petya Dubarova.
