Old Nessebar
Nessebar is an ancient city, known since the times of Ancient Greece. Accordingly, the city built Orthodox churches, which during the Turkish yoke turned into mosques, and only after the liberation of Bulgaria, by the way, with the help of the Russian army (see the film "Turkish gambit") temples began to gradually recover.
By the way, under the Turkish yoke Bulgaria was for 5 centuries until 1878, when as a result of the bloody war it was not liberated by Russian troops. Gratitude of the Bulgarian people was so strong that even during the second world war, when Bulgaria was forced to move to the line of Hitler's Germany, the Bulgarian Tsar set a condition that Bulgaria will not fight against Russia and the USSR.
Today in the old town there is one functioning Orthodox Church. The bench in it – not the influence of Catholicism, a legacy of socialist times, when the Church came only elderly people who were hard to stand for long periods.
The architecture of Nessebar is very peculiar – a two-storey house, the first floor of which is stone, and the second - wooden. Even modern buildings are stylized antique.
The city has preserved several historical ruins. Handmade lace can be bought for those who like Souvenirs.
